GMGN copy trading, and a simpler alternative
GMGN is a full trading platform with copy trading built in; copypump is a Telegram bot that only copies, starting from the pump.fun leaderboard. Want analytics and many chains? GMGN is stronger. Want a wallet copied, sells included, sized in dollars? copypump is simpler.
GMGN copy trading is one feature inside a large trading platform: charts, wallet analytics, smart money labels, sniping and automation across several chains. copypump is a Telegram bot that does one job, copying Solana wallets, mostly from the public pump.fun leaderboard. Neither is the right answer for everyone, so here is a fair comparison, including where GMGN is simply better.
We make copypump, so read this with that in mind. Every GMGN detail below comes from GMGN's own documentation at the time of writing (September 2026). Features change, so check their current docs before you decide.
What GMGN copy trading is
GMGN copy trading is an automatic mode that watches a wallet and places a matching trade from your GMGN wallet when it buys or sells. According to GMGN's docs, you can start a copy from a wallet's page on the website, from GMGN's ranking of wallets, or from its Telegram bot, and the feature requires a Telegram login.
The docs also list two limits worth knowing: wallet copying runs on Solana, and you can create up to 10 copy tasks. They add a candid warning of their own: copying a very active wallet with a high priority fee can eat your SOL balance even when the copied trades are profitable.
GMGN copy trade settings, and the copypump equivalent
Most GMGN copy trade settings have a direct counterpart in copypump, because both tools answer the same questions: how much, which trades, and when to get out. The main differences are the unit (SOL in GMGN, US dollars in copypump) and how exits work.
| GMGN setting (per its docs) | What it does | copypump equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed buy | Same amount of SOL on every copy | Fixed amount in dollars, from $3 |
| Maximum follow-buy | Their size, up to your cap | Percentage of the trader, with max per trade |
| Automatic follow-up selling | Sells the same share of your copy as they sell | Exit style: mirror (the default) |
| Take profit and stop loss | Your own exit levels, can be batched | Up to three take profit rungs, a stop loss, breakeven after a rung |
| Market cap limit | Only copy inside a market cap range | Market cap band |
| Minimum copy amount | Ignore their small buys | Minimum trader trade |
| Single coin position increase times | How often you add to the same token | First buys only, plus a cooldown |
| Liquidity limit, token age, platform filter, blacklist | Extra filters on what gets bought | No direct equivalent; max impact and max chase guard the fill instead |
One detail matters more than it looks. GMGN's docs say that once take profit and stop loss are switched on for a copy, the trader's sells are no longer followed. In copypump the two work together: your position closes with the trader, unless one of your own exits fires first. If you want both behaviours at once, that is a real difference. GMGN copy trading fees
GMGN's docs describe one copy trade as the amount traded, plus the priority fee you set, plus a GMGN handling fee of 1% per transaction, with nothing else added. That rate is as published at the time of writing; check GMGN's fee page for the current one. Priority fees and slippage are yours to set, and GMGN's own advice is to keep the priority fee modest if speed is not critical.
copypump takes a commission on each filled trade, buys and sells, shown on the last screen of the copy flow before anything is armed. There is no subscription, and nothing on deposits, withdrawals, holdings or your gains. The network cost of a trade is passed through. Whatever tool you use, compare the cost at your actual trade size, on both legs. The breakdown of what pump.fun itself charges is in pump.fun fees explained.
Where GMGN is stronger
GMGN is stronger if you want a whole trading desk rather than a copier. Credit where it is due:
- Analytics. Wallet pages, smart money and KOL tracking, on-chain labels for snipers and the first buyers of a token, and token security checks.
- Many chains. Its docs list Telegram bots for Solana, Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain and Tron. copypump trades on Solana only.
- A terminal. Charts, multi-charts, limit orders, trailing take profit and stop loss, migration snipes and more. copypump has no charting screen and is not a sniper.
- More filters. Liquidity, token age, launch platform and a token blacklist on copies.
If you trade by hand most of the day and want copying as one tool among many, GMGN makes sense.
Where copypump is simpler
copypump is simpler if copying is the whole plan. It is built around one flow, inside Telegram:
- The pump.fun leaderboard, in the chat.
/leaderboardlists the top PnL wallets on pump.fun over 24h, 7d or 30d. Tap one, see its card, start copying. Any other Solana wallet works through/find, with an address, a pump.fun profile link or a username. - Nothing pre-selected. About a dozen questions, each needing a tap, and a last screen listing every answer and the fee before anything is armed.
- Sells mirrored by default. They sell 30% of their bag, 30% of yours goes. Only the trader who opened your position can close it.
- Dollars, not SOL. Your balance is USDC on Solana and every size is in dollars, so a $50 copy is $50 whatever SOL does.
- Deposits from other chains.
/depositaccepts USDC on Solana, or USDC from Base, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon or BNB Chain, bridged by Relay.
The wallet question: can you take your key?
The wallet model is the difference that decides your worst case, not your average day. GMGN's docs state that wallets created by its Telegram bots cannot export their private keys, for security reasons, and that withdrawals have moved to the GMGN website, behind Google Authenticator and a withdrawal address whitelist. That is a deliberate security choice with real benefits, and it also means the key stays inside GMGN.
copypump creates an embedded Solana wallet for you through Privy. copypump's app key is added as a signer so copies run while you are offline, and you can export the private key at any time from /settings, in a Privy window copypump never sees. /withdraw sends USDC to a wallet of yours on Solana or five other chains. Step by step: export your copypump private key.
How to choose
Pick by what you will actually do each day, not by the longest feature list:
- You chart, snipe and trade by hand: a terminal like GMGN fits better. Copying is a side tool.
- You want to copy pump.fun wallets and get on with your day: a dedicated copier is less to learn and less to get wrong.
- You trade on several chains: GMGN. copypump is Solana only.
- Holding your own key matters to you: check the export rules of any tool before funding it, ours included. The full checklist is in Solana copy trading bots: what to check.
