How to copytrade a pump.fun wallet

There are two ways to copy a wallet on pump.fun: watch it and press buy yourself, or have something watch the chain and trade for you. The choice between them matters more than anything else you will decide.

Copying a wallet on pump.fun is not one thing. It is two quite different things that share a name, and picking between them decides most of your outcome. Which wallet, what size and when to stop all matter too, but they matter second.

The two ways, and what each costs

By handAutomatic
TriggerYou notice the tradeThe trade, seen on-chain
Typical delayMinutes to hoursSeconds
ExitsWhatever you happen to catchCopied like the entries
While you sleepNothing happensTrades open and close
SetupNoneA few minutes, once

The delay row is the one that matters. On a bonding curve every buy lifts the price for the next buyer, and the lift is steepest on young coins. We show the arithmetic in what a big first buy does to a pump.fun price. A few seconds of delay costs a slice of the trade. Several minutes can put you on the wrong side of it entirely.

Copying by hand, honestly

Everyone starts here, so it is worth writing down what it involves:

  1. Find the wallet on the leaderboard and bookmark it on pump.fun or an explorer.
  2. Check it constantly, or set up some kind of alert.
  3. When it buys: open the coin, decide, size it, confirm, wait for the transaction.
  4. Then do the same for the sell, which arrives with no urgency and nothing flashing.

Done attentively, this can work. The failures are consistent and have nothing to do with skill:

  • Sleep. Memecoins keep no office hours. The trades that mattered happen while your phone is face down.
  • The catch-up trade. You see it late, the chart is still green, so you buy anyway. You are not copying their trade anymore. You are buying from the people who got in before you.
  • Missing the exit. People catch entries and miss exits. Copying entries without exits is a way of collecting other people's bags.

Step one: pick the wallet

This is the easy part on pump.fun, because wallets are not hidden. The public leaderboard lists them, and every profile is a wallet. The hard part is choosing well: a wallet at the top of the daily board may have made one lucky trade. The method is in which pump.fun traders are worth copying, and the windows are explained in the leaderboard's three clocks.

In copypump you can pick from the pump.fun leaderboard (24h, 7d or 30d) inside Telegram, or paste a Solana address, a pump.fun profile link or a username. See how to find a pump.fun wallet address if you only have a name.

Step two: set the rules

Automatic copying comes down to a few settings. Decide them before you touch any interface.

The size

Either a fixed amount per copied trade, or a percentage of the wallet's own trade. Fixed is the sensible default. A percentage sounds fair, and it quietly imports their risk appetite into your account: when they go big, you go big.

The cap

If you copy a percentage, set a hard ceiling per trade. A wallet putting a large amount into one coin is expressing conviction against a budget that has nothing to do with yours. The cap stops one of their big days from being your bad month. In copypump, percentage mode always comes with a max per trade.

The exits

On. The sell carries more of the outcome than the buy. Ideally the copy is proportional: if they sell 30% of their bag, you sell 30% of yours. That is how copypump copies sells by default.

The stop

Two different actions, and make sure you have both: stop copying new trades, and sell what is open. The first means "I have changed my mind about this wallet". The second means "get me out now". In copypump they are separate on purpose: stop copying leaves your positions alone, and sell all is its own button, with a confirmation.

A word about the wallet you trade from

You are about to let software trade with your money while you are not watching. Ask two questions about any tool: whose wallet is it, and can you take your funds and leave without asking anyone?

copypump uses an embedded wallet tied to your Telegram account. copypump has permission to sign trades on it, which is how copies happen while you are offline. You can export the private key from the bot at any time and move everything elsewhere, and withdrawals go to any address you choose. More in is copypump safe?

What it costs

  • Slippage. The biggest cost. Your fill lands after theirs, and on a fast candle it lands worse.
  • Fees. pump.fun's own trading fees, Solana network fees, and your tool's fee. copypump charges a percentage on each copied trade, buy and sell, shown before you start copying. No subscription. See pump.fun fees explained.
  • Tax. In many countries every copied trade is a disposal. Automation multiplies the paperwork. See memecoin copytrading and taxes.

Five mistakes worth skipping

  1. Copying rank one on the daily board by default. One huge trade is not a process.
  2. Copying too many wallets at first. Two active wallets can make more trades in a week than you expect, and the tickets add up faster than the balance.
  3. Skipping the cap because the size feels small. The size bounds a normal trade. The cap bounds the abnormal one.
  4. Overriding the copies by hand. If you review each trade, you have rebuilt manual copying and kept all its delay.
  5. Treating a copied position as someone else's problem. It is in your wallet. The trader does not know you exist.

Next: how to choose which wallet to copy, which is where most of the remaining difference lives.

Frequently asked

Does pump.fun have a built-in copytrading feature?

pump.fun shows you the leaderboard, the profiles and every trade, but it does not copy anyone for you. To copy a wallet automatically you need a tool that watches that wallet on-chain and places your trades when it trades.

Do I need the trader's wallet address?

You need to know which wallet to watch, yes. On pump.fun that is easy: leaderboard entries and profiles are wallets. In copypump you can pick straight from the leaderboard, or paste a Solana address, a pump.fun profile link or a pump.fun username.

How much money do I need to start?

Enough that one copied trade is a sum you are relaxed about losing in full, times the number of trades your wallet makes in a week. The per-trade amount matters more than the total. In copypump the smallest fixed copy is $3.

Can I copy only some of a wallet's trades?

Yes, with rules set in advance rather than judgement calls in the moment: first buys only, market cap limits, a maximum number of open positions, a cooldown on re-buys. Reviewing each trade by hand brings back the delay you were trying to remove.

Is copytrading legal?

Trading your own funds based on public on-chain activity is not in itself a regulated activity in most places, but rules differ by country and every copied trade can be a taxable event. This is not legal or financial advice.

Stop being the exit. Copytrade the insiders.

Pick a wallet from the public pump.fun leaderboard, set your size and a cap, and every buy and sell they make is copied to your wallet.
